Snohomish County has the largest manufacturing workforce in Washington State. The local workforce is highly educated and highly trained. Workers have benefited from a comprehensive network of excellent schools, colleges and technical training facilities located in Snohomish County from the University of Washington branch campus, Edmonds and Everett Community Colleges, to the Applied Technology Training Center located near the Boeing Everett facility.

Employment by Industry

The Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD) provides reports detailing total employment, unemployment rates, employment by industry sector and wages by industry. These Labor Area Summaries are update monthly. The Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages lists the number of firms, average emploment and average wages by industry (six digit NAICS). ESD has reports and analysis on many aspects of employment in Washington. Their website is www.workforceexplorer.com.

Upon request, the EDC can supply county or MSA level, industry-specific wage estimates by Standard Occupation Code. These estimates are based on Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD) data and EMSI Strategic Advantage estimates. Please provide a list of representative occupations for your business. Workforce Development Council

 

The EDC works closely with the Workforce Development Council of Snohomish County. The Council oversees the implementation, local planning and management of the federal Workforce Investment Act in Snohomish County.

 

Post secondary educational opportunities abound throughout Snohomish County and the rest of the Puget Sound Region.

The area is home to numerous institutions offering a wide array of choices and diversity in degree programs—all aimed toward equipping today’s students with the skills and education necessary for prospering in the competitive and ever-advancing economy of tomorrow.
