Entertainment:  Swimming, boating, and fishing in the lake.

Distance to:
 Work – Seattle – l hr 10 min
               Everett – 20 min
 Skiing – 1 hr
 Boating – 5 min to 20 min

Distinctions:  Lake Stevens enjoys an up-scale small town atmosphere.  For years, the town was generally known as a resort community with boating, swimming and fishing on the lake.  As population pushed north from Seattle and east from Everett, Lake Stevens became a prime residential area.  Its popularity and natural beauty, combined with changing commuter habits, attracted more and more residents, changing its character to that of a suburban community.

Anticipating that it will grow from approximately 6500 residents in 2007 to 46,000 by 2024, Lake Stevens has set forth comprehensive plans to establish high densities in and around “Old Town” and Historic Downtown, South Lake Stevens and Frontier Village while medium-density neighborhoods will extend from them to lower density developing on the periphery.  The lake remains the focal point of the greater Lake Stevens community for recreation and as a symbol of its need to provide for a sustainable existence that will protect its natural environment.
